Grey Whales provide kayakers with Everyday California once-in-a-lifetime opportunities when leaving the waters of the Arctic and heading south to the lagoons of Mexico. Our guides will push every kayak safely through any waves before paddling out of the reserve. The tour heads due west from the shore and stops about two miles out, putting you alongside the path of the whale migration. Our expert kayak guides know the best spots to view gray whales and will offer interesting facts and history about the surrounding area and marine life along the voyage. The tour takes two hours. Seeing these majestic mammals is truly awe-inspiring.
Our guides are there to make sure you have the most intimate and amazing experience. Part of that is a strict adherence to the Marine Mammal Protection Act and the Ocean Etiquette Guidelines established by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). In accordance with the laws and guidelines, we remain at least 100 yards away from whales and 50 yards away from dolphins. We avoid following behind or directly approaching in front of these animals. By following these guidelines, we ensure that we are safe, do not disturb these amazing creatures of the sea and have a wondrous experience.
From December 1st to March 1st have the opportunity to have a life-changing whale watching experience be kayaking through La Jolla water.
